Faraday unveils enhanced Gigabit Ethernet PHY for UMC's 28HPC+ process
【Hsinchu, Taiwan】November 16, 2023
Faraday Technology Corporation (Taiwan Stock Exchange: 3035), a leading ASIC design services and IP solutions provider, announced the availability of its 4-port Gigabit Ethernet PHY in UMC's 28HPC+ process. This silicon-proven GPHY features a SAR ADC for superior PPA benefits and advanced digital algorithms that significantly improve signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). The demand for highly integrated SoC solutions in networking, consumer and industrial automation applications continues to grow, and Faraday's latest products, designed to meet this demand, aim to accelerate product development while enhancing performance.
A 33% reduction in per-port power consumption compared to previous designs is also a key feature of this 28nm 4-port Gigabit Ethernet PHY. Additionally, advanced digital signal processing (DSP) mitigates signal noise caused by multi-port crosstalk, improving signal quality, including a significant 1-2dB SNR improvement compared to Faraday's 40nm 4-port GPHY. This GbE PHY supports a variety of industry standard protocols including 1000BASE-T, 100BASE-TX, 10BASE-Te, 100BASE-FX, IEEE 802.3, 802.3u, 802.3ab, and ANSI X3.263-1995 (FDDI-TP-PMD) do. Furthermore, it seamlessly integrates with UMC's 3.3V and 1.8V I/O, making it an ideal choice for 28HPC+ low-power SoC platforms, ensuring excellent power efficiency and performance.
“Faraday has successfully supported high-volume production of customer ASIC projects in a variety of networking applications,” said Flash Lin, Faraday COO. “We can help develop Ethernet-enabled devices and systems,” he emphasized.
